Robotics companies in Zurich and Lausanne: where to look

Searching only for “robotics engineer” can hide much of the work at a robotics company. Someone has to assemble the hardware, validate sensors, design the interface and help customers use the product. Those jobs often have different titles.

Start with the machines you want to work on. Around Zurich and Lausanne, you can find employers building inspection robots, mapping drones and surgical systems. This guide connects those products to companies in the Job Seek catalogue, with examples of roles we found when checking their listings on 28 September 2026.

Zurich: inspection robots and aerial mapping

Industrial inspection on legs

ANYbotics builds autonomous legged robots for industrial inspection. Its careers page identifies Zurich as a base, but the company also lists jobs elsewhere. Keep the location filter on when browsing its roles.

The Zurich listings we checked included an Industrialization / Electronics Test Engineer and a Production Technician II (Robotics), alongside a software engineering internship. This is a useful employer to explore if your interest is getting a physical robot built, tested and working reliably, as well as writing its software.

Flying robots that touch the structure

Voliro develops aerial robots that make physical contact with structures for inspection. Its Zurich office is a starting point for a different kind of robotics search: flight, inspection tools and the software around them.

Our catalogue check found a Senior Cloud Engineer listing in Zurich. A spontaneous-application listing was also present; it is an invitation to introduce yourself, not a specific open role.

Drones for surveying and mapping

Wingtra develops drone-based surveying and mapping systems, with engineering and manufacturing in Zurich. The product includes the aircraft, sensors and software used to turn a flight into useful mapping data.

Its Zurich listings included Production Operator Assembly, Junior Software Engineer – GTM Products, and Team Lead Procurement & Supply Chain. Read the duties behind each title: a software role at a drone company is not necessarily flight-control engineering.

More robotics employers in the Zurich area

The products vary considerably. Use these companies to broaden your search beyond inspection and mapping:

• RIVR — wheeled-legged delivery robots. Formerly Swiss-Mile; its current careers material identifies it as part of Amazon.
• Gravis Robotics — autonomy for excavators and other earthmoving machinery.
• Mimic — dexterous robot manipulation for industrial tasks such as assembly and packaging.
• Flexion Robotics — intelligence and control for humanoid robots, with roles in Zurich as well as abroad.
• Hexagon Robotics — the AEON industrial humanoid platform; its robotics division is headquartered in Zurich.
• Verity — autonomous indoor drones used to track warehouse inventory.
• Fotokite — tethered aerial systems for public-safety teams, with a Zurich office.
• roboa — robots for inspection and work in confined spaces.
• Tethys Robotics — underwater drones for inspection and search and rescue, based in Schlieren.
• F&P Robotics — collaborative arms and mobile robots, based in Glattbrugg.
• BOTA Systems — force-torque sensors that give robotic systems touch feedback; a route into robotics through components and testing.
• FIXPOSITION — positioning and sensor fusion for mobile robots and autonomous machines, based in Schlieren.
• Embotech — autonomous vehicle technology for industrial logistics, with a Zurich base.
• Auterion — autonomy software and hardware for unmanned systems, including defence applications; check the mission as well as the job requirements.
• ABB — industrial robotics and Sevensense navigation technology. Sevensense is an ABB business unit, so follow ABB rather than looking for a separate employer entry.

Ascento is another company to follow for outdoor security-patrol robots. It has Swiss roots, but the openings we found were in Brooklyn. The Switzerland-filtered watchlist will only show its roles when their listed location matches.

Lausanne area: indoor drones and surgical robotics

Use Lausanne as a regional starting point, then check the actual workplace. Flyability and Distalmotion are in nearby municipalities, not central Lausanne.

Inspection inside confined spaces

Flyability develops indoor inspection drones and software. Its headquarters is in Paudex, in the Lausanne area. Think about the whole inspection workflow: collecting data in a difficult space, interpreting it and presenting it clearly to the person doing the inspection.

When we checked, its Vaud listings included Sensor Validation & Calibration Engineer, Senior UX/UI Designer and Machine Learning Engineer – Spatial AI. Open the individual posting to check the workplace, experience requirements and working language.

Robots for the operating room

Distalmotion develops the DEXTER robotic surgery system. Its Swiss address is in Epalinges, north of Lausanne. This is a medical-device employer to consider if you want to work on physical systems used in a clinical setting.

Our catalogue included a Robotics Manufacturing Engineer role and a Complaint Handling & PMS Specialist role in Vaud. Here, PMS means post-market surveillance: monitoring a device after it reaches the market. Manufacturing and quality work can be as relevant to a robotics search as controls or perception. Check the requirements for medical-device experience in the specific role.

More drone employers near Lausanne

• Flybotix — indoor inspection drones, based in Renens. Its careers feed includes technical and customer-facing work.
• RigiTech — drone delivery systems, based in Prilly. Check commercial and operations roles as well as engineering.

Elsewhere in Switzerland

Precision agriculture in Yverdon-les-Bains

Ecorobotix develops precision spraying systems that use AI and optics to target plants. It is based in Yverdon-les-Bains, elsewhere in Vaud, rather than Lausanne. Include it if that location or agricultural technology fits your search.

Its catalogue page includes overseas roles too. A Swiss headquarters does not make every opening a Swiss job. Check the location of each posting before adding it to your application list; a role with no clear location needs confirmation.

Surgical systems, warehouse automation and unmanned aircraft

• CASCINATION — surgical robotics and image-guided procedures, including the HEARO system, in Bern.
• Swisslog — warehouse automation, robotic picking and material handling, with Swiss operations in Buchs AG.
• Dufour Aerospace — unmanned tilt-wing aircraft, with locations in Dübendorf and Visp.
• SwissDrones — long-range unmanned helicopters, with headquarters in Zurich and manufacturing in Buchs SG. This is a different Buchs from Swisslog's Aargau location.
• Stäubli — industrial robots and mechatronics, with Swiss operations including Horgen. Its wider business also covers connectors and textile machinery.

ABB and Stäubli also hire for products outside robotics. The shared watchlist uses Narrowed to look for a clear robotics, drone or autonomous-machine connection in the role or business unit. Manufacturing, quality, supply-chain, sales and customer-support work stay in scope when they support those products.

Build a shortlist around the work

Choose the part of the product you want to work on before tightening your job-title filter:

• Build and test hardware. Start with the manufacturing and test examples at ANYbotics, Wingtra and Distalmotion.
• Work on sensing, data or the interface. Explore the sensor, machine-learning and design examples at Flyability. Compare responsibilities, not just the employer’s industry label.
• Support the product beyond the robot itself. The cloud role at Voliro and procurement role at Wingtra show why a broad first pass can be useful.
